Ellen Q. Wang is an undergrad student at Vanderbilt University, TN. She is currently studying Medicine, Health, and Society with a minor in English. Her interest in examining racial identities stems from her own experiences as an Asian- "American." Born in Toronto, Canada, Ellen has spent the majority of her life living in the United States. In examining concepts of 'self and othering,' she draws from a myriad of personal accounts and shared narratives relating to issues of race and ethnicity. As a hobbyist artist, Ellen chose to represent, through digital illustrations, some of the most prominent of these problems: stereotyping, discrimination, language barriers, spacial and social segregation, isolation, resource and socio-economic status disparities, and the misappropriation of culture.
